Petaling Jaya, 8 April 2026 – Gambit Group has received an Honorary Mention in the Rising Star (up to RM25mil) category at The Star Outstanding Business Awards (SOBA) 2026, recognising emerging businesses in Malaysia with strong growth, innovation and market impact. The awards ceremony took place at One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya.

The recognition reflects Gambit Group’s rapid growth and its position as Malaysia’s first hybrid trustee for both traditional and digital assets, addressing a critical gap in accessible inheritance planning.

Commenting on this, Datuk Clifford Hii, Group Chief Executive Officer of Gambit Group, said it marks an important milestone as Gambit Group continues to scale its operations and expand its reach.

“We are honoured to receive an Honorary Mention in the Rising Star (up to RM25mil) category at SOBA 2026, as this reflects the progress we have made in building a more accessible and future-ready approach to inheritance planning. Our goal has always been to democratise legacy planning for Malaysian families. As financial needs evolve, especially with digital assets, structured and accessible solutions become even more important.”

Closing the gap in inheritance planning
In Malaysia, more than 80 per cent of individuals have not done any inheritance planning, contributing to over RM90 billion in frozen assets. This challenge is becoming increasingly complex with the rise of digital assets, which are often overlooked in conventional estate planning.

Gambit Group was established to address this gap through a hybrid trust model that integrates both traditional and digital assets within a single structure. Its approach is designed to make legacy planning more accessible, particularly for mass-affluent families who have historically been underserved in this area.

Through initiatives such as trust consultation, free will-writing and its “Start Now, Pay Later” trust framework, Gambit aims to lower the barrier to entry and encourage more Malaysians to begin planning their estate management early.

A differentiated approach to modern wealth
At the core of Gambit Group’s offering is its Hybrid Asset Trust (H.A.T), which combines regulated trust structures with secure digital custody capabilities. This enables clients to manage a broader range of assets within a single, structured framework.

The platform is supported by governance, compliance and risk management systems, alongside digital onboarding and custody infrastructure. This ensures both security and accessibility as clients navigate increasingly complex financial needs.

Growth backed by real impact
Since its inception, Gambit Group has demonstrated strong traction across its business, including growth in assets under management, revenue, partnerships and client base.

Beyond commercial performance, the company has enabled hundreds of families to access trustee services for the first time, while supporting needs such as digital asset protection and structured planning for future generations.

The company remains focused on growing its presence in Malaysia, strengthening its hybrid trust ecosystem, and making inheritance planning more accessible, structured and relevant for a new generation of wealth owners.
